I went ahead and ordered it, otherwise I'd have to wait until Tuesday to get it.

: While Mustang and truck pumps turn reverse rotation, Crown Vic and Grand Marquis pumps turn in the standard direction. This is obvious if you've ever looked closely at a Crown Vic motor, although it has a serpentine belt the WP pulley is grooved (instead of smooth). The bolt pattern is wider on the reverse rotation pumps so it is very difficult to get it wrong without fabrication (standard pulleys won't bolt onto reverse rotation pumps).

: To answer the original Q, yes; 1988 will be the same. Good luck! -CP

: : What engine are you wanting to use these late model water pumps on?
: : Been seeing this on the board before.
: : Is everyone awhere that the late water pumps turn in the reverse direction from a V belt driven 302 pump,
: : in there standard application with serpentine belt and could be the source of heating problems if just the pulley was changed and the late unit used with V belt.
: : Just a question. Maybe i'm misunderstanding somthing here.
