75 has low compression, shop guy need help

go with pre-73 to get decent compression, I think 72 still had 9:1 comp ratio. You'd really be better off finding a late model roller block, lighter, roller cam, decent heads and a lot more readily available. I can't remember for sure, but seems the 73 was 8.5:1, 74 was 8:1 for sure, 75 was 8:1, 76 was 8:1 with worse heads, 77 *may* have gotten as high as 8.4, but the heads were horrible. if you get a 77, swap the heads, it'll be a decent engine. I may be mistaken, but the 351 had the same basic timing and lift, just a different firing order.

: Thanks Bro. I was just recomended a 75' block as the best year. I was talking to this guy at an engine shop and he said "a 75 long block with a 351 cam will make a nice hipo" Anyway what are the best years with the lower deck?
