Understand that weather you have 150 hp or 300, we can still get hurt in a car. I'm sure that you will find out that when with friends there gonna (egg)

My son has been driving race karts since 8 and learned the science on the track.
For your engine,look at the possibility of a rebuilt short block. Currently there around $750 which means with valve job,gaskets and misc. parts etc
the cost would be around 1200-1400 depending on what is done and your luck in dealing for parts.
Later when you show dad the responsibility he wants to see, then it may be mod. time for the engine.
