is the car a full-framed crown victoria body style or a downsize(fox body)ltd? at any rate, the only rear axle available in '85, police car or not, was a 7.5. the 8 inch in your mav is substantially stronger than this axle. 8 inch axles use the same differential side gears and spider gears as a 9 inch. while the 7.5 uses much smaller, weaker parts.both ltd's and crown vic's use coil springs also, mav's use leafs. be sure to sell the front and rear swaybars to some '79 to '93 mustang guys, they are worth having
