Ricky knows the importance of the junction block, but Ken is right. Distance has no bearing as it is an air free (ideally) system and hydraulic brake fliud will not compress. The reason that the front disks must apply later is that the clearance from the disc pads to the rotor is much smaller than the gap between the shoes to the drum in the rear. That is because the rear uses servo action, or a rotational wedge, if you will, to stop, where the discs merely use clamping pressure. The reason discs work so well is that they dissipate heat very well and are not effected by water. That's why the different apply rate.
