I have used BOTH a 1975 disk brake proportioning valve AND the original 1973 drum junction block with the discs on my car so I have a performance/safety comparison to go by. I switched back to the original junction block (had to re-do all the plumbing too) because I liked the feel of it better. Still using the disc brakes and disc master cylinder--I'd never go back to drum...Yes, the '75-'77 proportioning valve with discs is better for reducing rear-wheel lockup, however it is also a major pain in the @$$ to install because you have to re-do ALL the fittings on the lines. I compared the '74 j-block from a disc brake car with the '73 and they are EXACTLY the SAME. I used the '73 only because it had the mounting bracket in the right place while the 'bracket on the '74 unit was sideways...

: There are several places that advertise in Hemmings that can rebuild the prop valve. I would assume they would know for sure. I know I sent them mine and had it rebuilt and I am waiting to install it on my car. Since they rebuilt it, then I assume it must come apart somehow and something inside of it can be rebuilt.
