A residual pressure valve is what holds a constant specified amount of fluid pressure on the brakes--NOT a proportioning valve. AND the ONLY vehicals that use a R.P.V. are the type that have the master cylinder mounted LOWER than the wheel cylinders (such as old street-rods)...This prevents gravity from pulling the fluid away from the wheel cylinders back into the master (for lack of a better explaination)...Mavericks do not have a residual pressure valve in them...it is a myth. Bottom line: The factory junction block is FINE, the factory proportioning valve is BETTER, an aftermarket adjustable prop-valve is BEST. Have fun...
