hey ken,
i took a little snippet of your post. i too had an oddly rich mixture with my previous 500 cfm on my previous maverick. plugs were ok, but pipes kinda rich. never really figured that one out, but she ran well. (ran stronger with 600, but i couldnt seem to get good idle or all range response)
oddly enough, i had a 600cfm on my 351 cleveland. it burned rich, and fouled plugs. i later put a 750 on it (backwards logic) but the plugs were always clean and the car ran better. however, a cleveland is a whole different monster from a 302.
im wondering if you or anyone else on this board knows of the interchangeabiltiy of jets/metering rods, between the various (500,600,750cfm) edelbrocks?
i do have a strip kit, and could easily enrichen or lean out my current 500 cfm, IF they are indeed, interchangeable.
wonderin what yall would suggest? my car is running like a bat outta hell right now, but ive yet to fine tune it. if it can run better, i'd make it. but i am thrilled at what im experiencing right now.
the engine is bone-stock except for the edel/edel 500 combo.

: Said another simpler way, going to a larger carb to effect better fuel milage appears to be a solution but in reality the smaller carb needs to be rejetted then the fuel milage should improve along with throttle response.
: Thanks for reponding as these subjects are deeper than meets the eye so to speak.
: Can I sell this to you today?
: Best to you.
: Ken
