...didn't solve the problem. Didn't do any more harm, but, it didn't help either. I know the 780 is too big, but, as luck would have it, it is the only one I have available to use right now. After a month on unemployment, I have many bills to catch up on and can't afford that new Holley Street Avenger 600 that colls my name when I walk by at Advance Auto Parts. A friend of mine has a 750 cfm Edelbrock on his basically stock 283, so, I'm hoping my engine will be friendy to this 780 until I can afford a new one.

(the reason I am not rebuilding the 600 cfm is I already had the kit and parts for the 780...)

: replace your power valve, might be ruptured. Check for flooding down the carb throat. 780 is to big for your engine

: : Well, after having my Mav on the road for about a month, the first two Gremlins have appeared. The first was the Accel 300+ ignition system fried itself last Friday. At least there is a lifetime warranty on it.

: : The second seems much harder to pin down. When the car starts (difficult to do), it idles rough and seems like it wants to start 'loading up' right away. keeping the idle at about 1800rpm keeps it running until it warms up to the point where it will idle on its own for about 30 seconds until it starts loading up again. Unless I clear it our really good, the car has nothing at take-off, but, runs decent in the mid range and like sh1t in the higher rpms. The car backfires occasionally if the pedal is pushed too fast...

: : The plugs are not a consistant color. some are VERY black while some are whitish-tan. I have changed plugs and nothing changed. The vacuum guage hase me pulling a steady 13-15" of vacuum. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe the carb puked on me? Clogged fuel filters (one before and one after the fuel pump)? I am in the process of rebuilding a Holley 780cfm (my first time) for this car.

: : P.S.: the loading up problem started before the 300+ gave up the ghost...

: : Here is what I have:
: : 302 bored .060 over
: : 9.5:1 pistons
: : 87 5.0 GT heads milled .030
: : Edelbrock Perf. RPM intake & matched cam (int/exh dur @ .050 224/234 w/.496/.520 lift), cam installed 4 deg. advanced
: : Ford Motorsport 8 double roller timing chain (crank gear has 8 indexes)
: : Holley 4160 600cfm carb (older, been rebuilt once)
: : Holley Blue electric fuel pump set at 5 psi (was at six when the trouble started)
: : Crane roller rockers w/guideplate conversion kit
: : Accel 300+ ignition (stock Ford until my replacement 300+ arrives)
: : Accel 300+ 8.8mm racewire

: : This is extremely irritating, the car ran like a rocket before this crap started. Any ideas would be appreciated...
