Doing a shift improvement on a trans that is in questionable condition is like putting a super charger on a 100,000 mile motor that burns oil and needs a valve job. Works for awhile then the let down.
To relate my experince,I bought a C4 on faith out of a Cobra kit car that had been changed
over to 4 speed. Done the street/strip level change, put a 2200 stall converter in and was lucky to end up with
a fine trans. At normal acceleration I cannot hardly feel the shift and it goes through the gears quickly. When a doing a drag start or flash start, the shifting goes chrisp, lites up the tires in low and breaks them on 1 to 2 shift.
Ya just can't ask for better. The moral is start with a known good unit and your ahead in the long run.
Good luck, Ken
