: That sounds pretty decent. I have possibly found a guy that might be willing to rebuild the engine for a fair price. Where can I find this kit? I live in Southern California. Thanks so much for all your help.

Ok, since you live in So Cal it will save you money either on shipping or if you go pick the parts up. The place I am getting the prices from is called PAW. There are located in North Hollywood or Chatsworth. Their phone # is 818-678-3000.

The kit I am talking about is called a "Super Stock Master Kit". Get it for the 302 (years 68-81). Also get the cast piston kit. It costs $506 and you can have it balanced for $120 (I strongly suggest this) but you must tell them you want it balanced or they will assume you don't(total-$626). The kit also includes a cam size of your choice, I will get back to you on the cam I am using from them because it is a good street cam and makes great power. They also comes standard with any piston size you need (standard-.030-.060 over). You must also tell them you want stock compression ratio(9:1 is stock I believe and is a good ratio) and it is a safe bet that .030 over pistons are what you need. That is assuming the engine was never rebuilt and bored oversize. You must also get the piston kit prior to having the cyl. bored because they match the piston to the cyl. when boring. So you may want to tear down the engine before ordering the parts to be sure that you need a .030 over piston(machine shop will measure and let you know) unless you are absolutely sure the engine has never been rebuilt in the past. Also, machining will cost "around" $150 and that will include boring, honing cyl., cam bearings installed, hot tanking, magnafluxing, freeze plugs, and oil galley plug installation. Then heads may cost between $100 (cheapy job-not recommended) or up to $150 for a good valve job.

I am sorry if this is in any way confusing, so if you have anymore questions please ask.
