I believe the saying, "things come to those who wait". I have been considering buying my brother a 70-73 Maverick as a project car. He has been telling me for the past year now, he loves my car(white 2dr. 70 with 302). I really wanted to buy him one for his B-Day this Nov. as a surprise. This would give me time to save for a car and parts. I prefered getting him a 71-73 because of the 302 and no smog required here in Cal. if the vehicle is 73 or older. But a 70 would do and I would of course convert it to a 302 for him before his B-Day. Today I received a call from him telling me that his friend knows someone who wants to sell a 1973 Maverick 2 Dr. with a 302 and C4. Apparently, the guy received a parking ticket on the car and the trans. no longer goes into "Reverse" yet still runs and drives. I was thinking "ok, what price?". My bro said " He wants $100 for it". I jumped up and said "I'll buy it!". I drove out to see what this $100 Maverick with a 302 looked like(Was prepared for a hunk-o-junk). Amazingly, the body is perfect, the interior needs work but it also has A/C and P/S. I did buy it and got it home. I also have 74 Maverick discs that I will install hopefully next weekend as well as a spare C4. It has dual sports mirrors as well as a grabber tail. It was red but now white. I am thinking it is a Grabber, but did the Grabber from 73 not have the cool hood? Or was that a 71-72 only feature? Anyway to tell if this car is a factory Grabber, I must know soon! I was working on it a few minutes ago but I had to tell you all about my find, so now I am going to get back to work on it so I can take one quick drive tonight(8:30 pm right now). I feel very lucky, only $100!!! Talk to ya all later.
