I'll probably get a new stat anyway, new water pump, hoses, etc...
the hoses aren't original, but I didn't put them on there myself, so they're at least 4 years old.

: Don't trust that idiot light! Mine never came on when my car once hit 235+. The reason I know it hit 235+ is because I had a Sunpro temp gauge too. BTW, I have a 190 thermo. and my temp is always 200 no matter how hot it is out side, 120 or 30 degrees, always 200. I have gone 110 or 65 and it may go a tad over 200@110 MPH but it is pretty constant. If your car runs at 230, you have a serious problem.
