Hum I really don't know about that cutting the
springs is the "proper way" however that is an
definite option. The correct way (as far as
geometry) I would say would to be the relocation
of the control arm which Global West sells. This
way you don't lose the spring height as well as
the spring rate but it will lower the car. I know
that this is very costly as well as a lot of work
however this would be the "proper" way. I my self
have cut the front springs on stock ones as well
as after market ones and like the look. However
if you do cut them you will lose the spring rate
therefore your ride will be soggy not stiffer.
Maybe a stiffer ride as in bouncing up and down
with a crappy ride but defiantly not a stiff ride
as in handling nor making the spring stiffer (
harder to compress). Think of it this way…if you
stood on top of 6 coils VS. on a 5 coils wouldn't
5 be much easier to compress, flex, or squeeze
then one with 6 coils? However this is just my
opinion and my experience with lowering 5
Mavericks so what do I know: ) As far as how many
coils to cut I guess it's a matter of how low you
want to go… keep into consideration wheel
clearance. Good Luck and hope it looks good.
