I had to run a wire straight from the fuse box for the always-on connection. I used heavy wire and jammed it between the end of a fuse and the plastic. Holds fine. The hazard lamps are always powered, so that is a good pick. I haven't figured out how to neatly add a fuse block into one of the extra spaces.
I found what was presumably the original power wire hanging under the dash (though I'm not sure because it is yellow), which has power when the key is on. I would need to double-check, but I'm pretty sure it was connected to the radio fuse. That's one way to be sure it is the right wire.
