most floor shift rods point the opposite way of a column. it's usually a completely differnet arm assembly. Arm length is also a issue.

: The C-4 Transmission I put in my Maverick came from a column shift car. My car has the floor shift. I was told that the shift arm that the linkage connects to is the same for column or floor. I just need to pull it out and turn it around so that is points up. I did this but it does not seem correct. When the transmssion is in park, the shift arm points directly to the rear of the car. The shifter will not come out of park as it trys to push straight forward. I do have the wrong shift linkage (it is a home made rod that the previous owner made for the FMX trans that he had in the car)so I am wondering if everything is correct and I just need the right linkage, or do I need a different shift arm? Is there anyplace I can find a picture or drawing of what it should look like? I have a Chilton's Manual, but it does no show.
