As far as the turn signals go, the problem is that the plastic piece that holds the turn signal switch in "on" position has broken. That's a very common problem in these (and any) old cars, since the plastic becomes brittle with age. You can get off-the-shelf replacements for like 75 and up Fords, but I don't know of any for those of us who have older ones. You can use a "good" switch from a junker, but I wouldn't recommend it. I spent the time to pull my steering wheel, take out the old piece, pull the wheel from a donor vehicle, take out that piece and then put it all back together, just to have the "fixed" piece break a couple of days later, as it was just as brittle as the piece I had taken out.
