You must mean did the first guy or a thief do something to your car. If so, well, a header leek is possible if you are running them. As far as being killed by that you would have to be sitting in a parking lot with the engine running doing drugs. The only "major" problem is the exhaust leek? Headers are known to leak and I'm not convinced that it is a major problem. I some one say there car sounds like a tractor my firs thought is that a cylinder isn't working. Maybe the first guy un-did plug wire or a plug is fouled and the alignment man is an exhaust man too, who can charge you out the wahzoo to re attach a plug wire or change a plug. At any rate fix the exhaust your self (new gasket and 30min labor…30 min that's all that you should be charged). As for your boyfriends Z… the water pump and clutch couldn't ask for a better time for attention. You may be getting reamed for minor tasks considering the engine is already out and stuff. They are probably charging you labor for the clutch as though that's all they are doing. When, really the labor is minor and the major cost should be the part. I didn't do the math maybe X # of dollars for a clutch plate and turning of the flywheel. Even if you didn't need it it's a good idea. Does everything work now? Or in a couple of days?
