you could do that. Easiest fix, plug it and use a vented gas cap. Made them before by drilling a small hole in the center of the cap from the inside.

: : that's where the old charcold canister was bolted. You're probably find that the hose you're talking about goes back to the top of the gas tank and is for the vent return to the canister. You need to run a hose from the top of the tank to the tank filler line. The tank has to vent. Another way is to use a vented gas cap and plug the vent line, but the tank has to have a vent. The canister is for emissions when vented gas caps went away.

: : : I'm getting alot of gas fumes in my 72 Grabber it seems to get worse when going around corners and curves i noticed a metal line under the hood by the blower motor also there are three studs right behind the right shock tower should they be a canister are somthing there?

: I know this might cause a fire hazard, and put the canister in a more damage prone area, but it would clean up the engine compartment.
