you have a charging problem. while idling you should have a minimum of around 13.8 volts. One thing people overlook is the ground to the voltage regulator. Without it a regulator will last about 10 seconds. The origional ground wire from the battery looped over & had a tab that bolted to the base of the regulator then continued to the block. most replacement cables do not have this. Its a 50/50 shot weather your ground thru the chassis is enough to work without this ground strap. Run a ground wire (12 or 14 ga) directly from the battery to the base of the regulator & try a new one. Also make sure your radio & lights all have clean grounds. A lot of electrical problems are because of bad grounding
