I've worked on a few 360's (put a rocker arm shaft on one the other day), and I have never heard of a 351M based 360.
I agree also that FE's are awesome motors, but the 360 is a dog in my opinion. I'd never want one. I don't think a 360 could run with a 351W given the tons of extra steel. -CP
: ...There was NEVER a 351M or 400 "based" 360 issued by the factory. The FORD 360 was indeed a "destroked" 390 engine as someone has already mentioned. Sorry to be so insistent but I want the record set straight!
: On that same note both AMC and Chrysler Corp. ALSO produced their own 360 c.i. engines.
: While I wouldn't put an FE in a Maverick unless somebody GAVE me a 427 *insert prayers here* ;-). I know for a fact that they are not the "dogs" they're being portrayed as here...a "well tuned" FE will run with ANY "well tuned" smallblock and usually beat them!(Not that I have ever personally 'beaten up' any late model Mustangs with my FE powered '65 F-100...*wicked grin*...let's just say they know now that my rear bumper is chrome... ;-D)
