Hi Paulie,
My experience with small claims court in Ohio is that one can cause a person a lot of trouble for a small amount of money.A guy wrecked my paint job at one of those instant oil change places. He denied doing it although it was obvious that he did and refused to have it repaired.I had to get an estimate from a body shop, etc(pics) to prove the cost of the damage.I assumed to get nothing but satisfaction that I had at least caused him a little trouble. For a filing fee of about $25 he got a summons, very official looking but they never go after no-shows.In my case this was enough to make him fork over.If he had not then for more $$ I could have had a lien put against any sale of his automobile, settlements etc, providing the judge saw things my way in court.Really, small claims is good for causing someone legal trouble, but if he has nothing, never will have nothing then you will probably never get nothing. Hope that helps and sorry about the Mav....:(
