Turn signal thingie again.

Ok. The turn signal lever will not even stay in the up or right turn position any more. It stopped doing that as I was taking it to get it inspected. It failed for that reason of course. Is there ANY quick way to fix this so I can get it inspected? or do I need to find a steering column?
