On newer cars, it's easy to run 10:1 compression because they have knock sensors to reduce the timing of the engine. On older, non-computer cars, your knock sensor is your ear. When you hear the knock, you let up your right foot. As such, if you going to run high compression (which 10:1 really isn't that high), you need to listen to the engine under load. If you use good gas (i.e. Amoco Gold), you'll have no problem running your engine on the street or track. For safety, you may want to add a couple ounces of lead additive on each fill-up. But DEFINATELY go with the 10:1 motor as you get a lot more HP for your $
