regarding your maverick....
there are differing opinions.
are you sure yours is a 71? the reason i ask, is from all ive always known, the V8 did not become an option until 73. (although it appeared a year earlier in the comet)
but to just to dispute my own knowledge, i recently bought a 72 maverick that was a factory equipped V8.
if your car is not a grabber, check the door panel and see if it says anything about LDO (luxury decor option)
again, i didnt think this was available until 73.
the LDO (at least my 73) came with deluxe bucket seats, with several position settings (including lays back all the way), deluxe door panels,
it had A/C, floor shift, and drum brakes all the way around.
it also had a very fat, gaudy, chome and vinyl strip that ran the length of the car. (i also forgot that hideous vinyl top)
it sounds like a car worth keeping. if you are forced to sell it, put it up in our classifieds. for $250, i think you have a solid nucleus, and several of us would like to have it.
finally, why dont you copy down the serial number? that tells most of the story anyhow. for some reason im thinking your car is not a 71.
if the car is a 71, it will start out D1___________...
if its a 72, D2 and so on..
