Without a good ground, you can burn a voltage regulator up before you can spell Maverick 3 times. Replacement battery cables never have the ground that the factory provided. If you have a replacement cable take a piece of 14ga wire & run it directly from the neg terminal to the base of the regulator. Put a voltmeter across your battery and check output. It should be about 13.8 volts running at about 1500 to 2000 rpm for a good output.
: My alternators output is good at times, but at times inconsistent when running. (Even at high RPM's). I noticed a ticking noise coming from my regulator. Is this a bad reulator, or could the regulator just not be grounded properly? -Doug
