take it down to the car wash and was the pump hoses and steering linkage off first. Before you even start it back up fill the fluid level up there start it. Drive to a dry spot very close by and crawl up and around it and look for the leak.
Could be a hose, clamp on return hose, rubber O ring on back of pump housing, steering helper unit, etc. Might even be a bad cap letting it come out. What ever you do don't pry on the pump housing to tighten up the belt. You'll dent it and that can cause a leak.

: I have a 77, 302 4-door mav. I'm 17, it's my first car so i really don't know much about it. But I was wondering if anyone has had power stearing problems. My aunt (the orginal owner) said that it has always had problems. It's always leaking. I've even had a new unit up in about 8 months ago and it is still leaking. Right now I'm leaving a trail where ever I go. I would just like to know if anyone else had had the same problem and what they did about it because it's costing me alot of money. Thanks.
