: I was replacing the very mushy radiator hoses on my 72 Grabber today when I noticed the "necks" that the hoses clamp to were pulling out of the radiator as I was removing the cruddy old hoses. These things look like they just push in and out of the radiator. I tried in desperation to epoxy them back in, the top held, but the bottom leaked like a sieve. I was at the shop where I work doing a few things to the Mav, like changing the oil and filter, the above mentioned hoses, brake pads, and pressing on new bearings and replacing the axle seals on the 9" rear end(is this the original rear end for this car?).(The following is FYI; This car sat for about 1-2 years in the original owners back yard before he sold it to the guy I bought it from. The guy I bought it from had it a month, put dual flowmasters on it,and a new clutch assembly, dumped the clutch one good time and lost first gear. It then sat in his yard for the remainder of the 1 year he owned it. The engine still runs strong, although it does smoke for a little while when first cranked up, but then clears up.)Is this a common occurrence with this radiator? Can I take it somewhere and have the necks welded back on?Does anyone have a new/like new radiator they would be willing to part with for a little doe-re-me?I also looked at my z-bar linkage while under the car and did notice some numbers on it, but was to upset that I had to leave my car at work(about 35 miles from home)to write them down. Also, this is kinda embarrasing since I work on transmissions for a living, does anyone know if a tremec 3-speed was standard equipment? My co-workers and I think thats what kind of tranny we are looking at when we have the Mav up on a lift. At least thats what are transmission ID books are telling us anyways. It is a side shifter. Once again any help/info is greatly appreciated. And a big thanks a million for leading me to this site to none other than Craig Selvey, Thank You Very Much Craig for all your help, guidance, and advice.I will be in touch with you soon about a few parts.Craig, if you still have those pics of my car I sent you loaded in your computer, notice the original 1972 South Carolina tag the 1st owner left on the car, I also have the orginal owners manual and all other related paper work for this car i.e. repair orders/reciepts etc, etc.
i think i can help you. i have one for a automatic that you can have- just pay for the shipping. if your car is a three speed manual then i can get the plug off for the trans line. i work in a parts store so i can fix you up. just email and let me know where you are at happy motoring
