it would have to have slack to move and rubber on both sides to last, I may yet redo the crossmember to allow for the stock mount, but I'll have to rerun my exhaust to do so. The installation was fairly easy for what I was expecting, the crossmember was the only real problem, except for my misinformation of the 302 balance, I was told the Crown Vic used 28 oz like the older cars, it doesn't.
the crossmember is gonna get interesting before I finish, that's for sure, but the AOD went in fine, a little tight, but nothing needed to be done. The top bellhousing bolts are really fun tho...
you should be able to get just about any AOD to fit your 289 man, there are definately better years for performance and longevity, but any of them should work. I really am starting to wish I'd waited on a T5 tho, its smaller and I just like a 5 speed...

: : Solid mount is not recomended. Engine torque will cause the motor to twist but the trans wont be able to because of the solid mount. Sooner or later something will give. Unless you always drive like you got an egg under the gas pedal. Plus alot of drivetrain noise & vibration will be transfered to the frame.

: Do you have enough room to put a 1/2 inch piece of rubber between the tranny and the mount? If so, use a piece of tire tread. This will help...not suggested to do it for long though.

: How well did the install go? Know where I can find an AOD for my 289???
