spark plugs

I have a 72 mav with a 250 I6 and I have had this problem with the spark plugs fouling out after about 8 months of having them on there and I think they sould last longer than that....all three times I have put AutoLite plugs on there could this be the problem or is it a problem with my engine running too rich?
