I am about to install a Holley Annihilator system in my Maverick. I'm using a stock Ford 1985 Mustang GT Duraspark distributor. It has a really good advance curve. For your car I'd get an 84 Mustang Dist since you don't have a roller cam. Of course, this is just an economy issue. It was cheaper to go this route for me. An aftermarket MSD or Holley Dist would MUCH better. In the future I might have one. Check prices and decide for yourself.
In either case, you'll need a new distributor. Although the Holley system can run with points, it doesn't make much sense to do so, you lose the accuracy.
Another Ign system bonus, Edelbrock doesn't make any ignition systems, so there wont be any argueing!! :) -CP
