1) Find a COMPATIBLE donor car... trust me on this. The '78 fairmont worked BUT it was after a LOT of trips to the parts store and wrecking yard. I've been 10$-20$'d to death...
( a granada 77 or earlier is a freindly doner and you can take more from it)
2) Allow at least a $500 'slush fund' for unexpected expenses.
3) Don't rely solely on chain parts stores... I found motor mounts (NOT frame mounts) to replace the ones that were swiped at a hole in the wall parts store at a reasonable cost. Speed shops can also be an asset for those hard to find parts.
4) Utilize the MMB and Charlie's excellent maverick graaber websight.
5) SAVE RECEIPTS! Not only does it make exchanges a breeze but core charges are a handy 'refund'
6) keep 'back up plans' handy... travel arrangements ect...
7) And most importanly, remember you are doing this for FUN and for yourself and it is all worth it in the end.
