Your flexplate/flywheel is probably bad.Where I work, if a flexplate needs replacing then you gotta replace the drive gear on the starter as well,and vice versa.Whats probably happened is the new starter drive gear finished the teeth off on your flexplate.Hope this helped, Arnie.
