i plan on adding a 4 barrell to my maverick at some point. i know most people would go the after market route. but seeing as i have no budget, and the car needs no new internals, im thinking about possibly saving some money, and going for a stock look. (not that a 4V was ever available for a maverick)
i have 2 freinds who want/or have changed carbs. one comes off a hotrod 63 ranchero. its got a cast iron 4V intake, and the 4100 autolight carb. problem is... its a 4 speed car. im thinking it wont have any provision for a kickdown.
the other is off a 69 cougar eliminator. i dont know if its the same carb or not, but it looks like it. only problem.. it too has a different kind of linkage. the maverick has the springloaded cable to control the throttle. it also employs a rod to the transmission for a kickdown.
1st would either be a good carb, if i could make it work? i think they are both rated at 480 cfm.
2nd, would there be any problem in getting the hardware, to make it work with my existing linkages?
otherwise, i guess i have to go to the speed shop, but id really like someting a little different.
is it a major problem to adapt the autolight carb?
