In my opinion, a 1973 Maverick Grabber with rust-thru that hasn't ran for 20 years is worth $50....$100 Max. You have to pay to have it towed, so keep that in mind.
Count on replacing EVERYTHING. All brakes including wheel cylinders and ALL lines. All fuel lines I would replace. I would pull the tank and have it cleaned out and resealed. Definitely will need a tranny. The motor will definitely need rebuilt.
Unless you can "steal" this car...I would walk away.
Just speaking from experience....been there....done that.

: An older woman i know through various sources has a '73 Grabber, auto/302, in pretty good shape! It hasn't run for about 20 years, has four flat tires, and the body is rough...but the interior is prime! Plus...48k original miles!!
: My questions are:
: 1) What will need replacing? The transmission will likely be dead. I would replace all the radiator hoses...what about brake lines? What else? Is there anything else that will definitely need replacing?
: 2) Since the transmission will be dead, how what are the chances of putting a AOD in? What years work? What parts will i need? A custom transmission crossmember?
: 3) What's a good offer for this car? It has rusted through in several places, but the interior is flawless and it's low-mileage. I was thinking in the area of $250...or would that be a rip-off? I'm asking more for "what it's worth"--not what i could get away with. Because she is a friend, i don't want to rip her off.
: Thanks!!
