The problem with rust is that most of the time they rust from the inside out. So if you have a dime sized rust spot on the outside, its probably 4 times that size on the inside. The only way to fix it so that it dosen't come back is to cut it all out & weld in new metal. If the rust isn't that big, now's the time to get it fixed. Check with a local body shop & see if anyone does side work. You could have them cut & weld & you could do the finish work.
