First you have to check the state and area you live, lots of emission regs are for just a certain county. And as for Cats? Your's didn't have any. Insurance just get Liaibilty, anything else is a waste of cash unless you insure it is a "collector or show" car. Headers and single exhaust system. Will work, just put the collectors into a 3" exhaust pipe. That'll handle the exhaust system, but check your local regs first. Some is 72 or some is 25years old.
: okay, so i didn't reinsure my maverick.... stupid... and it has no muffler on it right now... double stupid. so i get a thing from the county clerk saying "provide insurance and emissions" here is what my problem might be. i'm like "why not?? i should just get headers and duals since i have no muffler anyways." but i don't know if my car has a catalytic or needs one. i went to Collins muffler and they said that if it needs one i will have to stick with a single exhaust (making headers pointless) and there is no way that "uncle sam" will let them put two cat's on. WHAT GIVES???? who else has done this and what kind of problems have you run into??? And i also heard that if i got Collectors plates then the car doesn't need emissions?? i'm prolly way outta line right there. SOMEBODY SET ME STRAIGHT I WANT TO KEEP MY BEAUTIFUL BABY!!!!!!!! its a 74 4dr 302 v8 the only upgrade done is an MSD ignition with a Pertronix Rotor under the distributor. if it helps any the V.I.N. is 4k92f139395.
: THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!!
