my stock 71 250 has a dual diaphragm.after installing performace cam and pistons,header ,weber carb,my car ran better with the outside diaphgagm plugged.imformation i recieved from clifford performance.i cant remember exactly,but one advances the timing under certain conditions and the other retards.i know the one i use is hooked to the carb abobe the fuel flow.below you have constant vacuum,above, only upomn acceleration.hope this helps
