I saw the same episode. It was a Tan Glow 75 Mercury Comet with forged aluminum wheels. It
was customary for Ford to supply the current
model year cars for various uses, and that episode
of Starsky and Hutch was filmed in 1975. Also, I
too thought it was a Maverick, however in the last
scene in which the car is seen, when the "bad guy"
pulls up to the shop to plan with the others, the
taillights were definately Mercury Comet pods. Come to think of it though, I didn't notice a Comet Hood. Hmmmm!!!!
