Good luck finding an original Mav z-bar. They're as rare as chickens' teeth! That's not to say that there aren't any to be found, because I found one, but it may take a long time. I would suggest that you tell everyone you talk to about what you are looking for. You never know when someone might say "I use to know a guy that had a Maverick. He might still have it ..." Another option,as you suggest, is to modify another type of bar. When Motor Trend magazine (among others) set out to build a 302 powered Mav before Ford started selling them, they used a "modified" '67 Mustang z-bar. Unfortunately, they never showed how to modify it. Neither did the other magazine that did the same thing (I forget who it was). Charlie Ping, a frequent contributor to this board was using a modified 'Stang bar. I'd be surprised if he doesn't respond to this post. If you don't hear from him, try his Grabber website for an email address. He's very helpful. Finally, I'd like to suggest again that if anyone has any contacts in fabricating, that we (collectively perhaps) see about having new (and even better) z-bars made up. I wouldn't think that it would be that hard, and you prove that there is a market for them. Happy hunting. John B.
: I'm trying to complete a 4-speed conversion in my '70 Mav. Still need a
: z-bar. It's a 2-piece unit, but I only have the half that connects to
: the clutch pedal. Need the half that bolts to the block and connects to
: the clutch fork. Are there any other z-bars that would work? (OK if it
: needs to be "tweaked") Any help greatly appreciated!!! Thanks, guys!
