74, my 73 Comet has been on the road since 94 but most likely not with the yearly mileage that your car may be used. I aligned both castor, camber and towin (yes I did) in my garage and have no detectable front tire wear, no pulling, just very stable for this kind of car.
I feel some problems are being overlooked in your front end.
The change from power steering to manuel at the control valve can be made using a conversion adapter that replaces the valve.
Mustang Unlimited (800-243-7278) can supply the adapter at $160. there #MU3304A.
With the faster ratio box being use in manuel, there will be a higher steering effort required.
The tie rod ends are nothing special as there the same as Mustang,Monarch etc. A way to check this is to get an Whitney cat. and look up there part for your car then run down the other Ford listings
and look for the same part number.
Hope this is of some help to you.
Ken
