The safest, but more $ way to do the battery is to move the solenoid back to the battery in the trunk. That way you don't have a piece of OO guage "hot" cable running the full length of the car. The cable from solenoid to starter is only "hot" when you start the engine. And as others have said: put it in a vented box to prevent acid damage and H2 gas from accumalating: : Why do i need to vent it to the outside??

: Batteries give off corrosive & flammable gasses as they charge. A lot of new batteries are supposedly sealed but I would vent it just in case.
