Yeah I used my package tray to mount some of those Auto Meter's 2 5/8" liquid filed guages with mounting Bracket instead of a cup. And they do fit great above the package tray.... and like someone said can be removed at any time. I have a 73 and it has a package tray as well you can kinda of see it on my web page www.geocities.com/mightymaverickman
check it out my white car you can see it just barely behind the steering wheel.

BTW if you mount it with a the autometer bracket housing you can drill holes on the top part of the tray with out damaging the package tray and besides no one will ever see them anyway if they are drill that way ; ).

I know some wont argee with my butchering up of my car with the tach on the dash and a fuel guage on the cowl "slam in the weeds look".. but its in no way a NOS Maverick and it never will be... but each to there own i guess. anyways If you have any questions give me an e-mail.
