: First when I put front springs into my 73 Mav. I used 67' Mustang V8 springs with half a coil cut off. Now my baby rides awful, when ever I hit a bump my front end bangs and it's quite annoying. I have a 302 in my Mav. it originally had a 250. I don't have the old springs anymore, I'd like suggestions on springs from people who have tried different springs than original, I want a smooth ride, and maybe something a little lower than stock.
: Next I need too know what's the difference between the front brakes on 81 capri 4cly. and a 85 5.0.
: And the difference between the front brakes on an 87 mustang 4 cyl. and a 87 mustang 5.0. I have a 4cyl. 81 capri and 4 cyl. 87 mustang. I'm planning on putting in a 351w into one them and I want too upgrade the brakes.
When I put new springs in my mav I put the ford motorsports lowering springs for a 79-93 mustang and cut 2.5 coils off with a grinder. This gives the mav a great lowered look without compromising ride quality. It also gives a slight front drag spring effect. The front end comes up quickly but if I want to turn ie. Autocross it still handles that very well. I also have adjustable Doeschtech shocks. That spring combo with a 2 inch lowering block in the back makes for a great look and excellent ride.
As for the brake issue I would say try and grab the front brakes off a 93 cobra or do the late model cobra 5 lug conversion. You could also just buy the powerslot slotted upgrade for stock brakes on an 87-93 5.0 and upgrade the calipers. Steel braided lines would also be a good idea. I have an 89 5.0 I did that combo and it vastly improved braking performance. It is also easy and relatively cheap to do. A friend of mine put the wilwood superlite kit on his 93 if you want to have the ultimate go with that. Good luck.
