Tranny orientation question ( this is easy)

Are the 2 tranny mount bolts supposed to be all the way
to the front of the tranny crossmember? My '75 still has
the stock I6 tranny crossmember, but a 302 has been swapped into
its place & the tranny is as far forward as it can go.
If the motor could go back an inch my headers
would fit. Thanks!
