Here is what I did, I sold my old Dodge Dart and bought a motorcycle. They aren't the safest things in the world but your wife/girlfriend will love when you give her rides. They get GREAT mileage, I get 45+ mpg and I ride like a bat out of hell. Imagine $6.00 for you to get to work. Mine is a XT500 so if you went with a 250 or so you would get 55+ mpg easy. I purchased mine for $500 dollars, I got a good deal but if you go with anything but a crotchrocket or Harley you won't spend to much. You might sell one mav , buy a motorcycle and keep the other mav. Just an idea.
Also that is terrible mileage for a 70 (I assume a I-6 200. Do a tune up, it will pay for itself.
