Ok. I am going to try to barrow some cash so that I can do a a rebuild to my 73 engine(it is too tired for such a long run daily, but fine for around town). I would rather leave my 70 alone because t is built more for perf. This being said, I am leaning to economy parts(in mileage that is). I need an engine that is as efficient as possible. I have now considered a 302 balanced kit from PAW, cast or hyper pistons($30 more for the Hyper, isn't it going to get better mileage that way?), gap less rings(145 extra, but maybe worth it because of efficiency?), rebuilt 302 heads($350), 9:1 CR, .03 over, and here is the biggest chunk, a roller cam. With everything, this will total around $1800 for all parts, heads, machining.
WIth a roller 302, not hi-po, C4 and 3:1 gears, what should I expect on mileage? I am hoping atleast 22 MPG.
Thank you all for your ideas and support. I am hoping I don't have to sell.
