: : A green dot tranny is also known as a jatco tranny. The name is an acronym.. Japanese transmission company... It is not hard to tell if you have one. It's cast iron. Through and through. It wont break real easy. The older racers told me what I had and they knew because they use to run it since it never flew apart. If you would like to lose some weight, that is a great starting place. The newer C4 trannies are just as good if built right.

: : Rouge Comet

: Ford didn't install jatco's in the Maverick or Mustangs. If you have a cast iron case, you may have a Cruise-O-Matic(early-mid 60's) or possibly an FMX(69-early 80's and looks simliar to the C4 on the exterior excepet for the cast iron casing). As was stated here earlier, some 65-66 Stangs used the C4 which started out in second gear for slippery roads. This was done by the type of valve body used and can be changed by using a later model valve body.

: If you do in fact have a Jatco trans., it sure as hell wasn't a factory piece. I wonder how someone got it to bolt up, if it is infact a Jatco. And I am unsure why a Jatco was choosen by anyone(if installed as an aftermarket piece), a C4 IMHO is far superior if equally compared to the same year Jatco.

The Jatco was only installed in 78-80 Granada's with the 250 six. So yes, a Jatco will fit in a Maverick with a 250. There were no performance parts ever offered as far as I know for the JATCO transmission.
