: was told that mavericks built outside the U.S. came equipped with top loader tranny's. is there any verification on this. and does any one know what /or if a top loader is available for a 200 six for the 70 model mav? please let me know if there is such a beast out there . thanks

Actually, the 3.03 three-speed is a top loader tranny. The three speed actually came out before the top loader four speed and was the basis for it's design. After 1967, when bellhousing designs were standardized (after the demise of the light duty non-sync 2.77 three speed with six cylinder only applications) the three and four speeds were interchangable. You'll have to use your existing 70 bellhousing, because the V-8 bellhousing won't bolt to the block, but the four speed will be a direct bolt in. As for foreign built Mavericks, the four speed may have been an option, I just don't know.
