I am running 245/60 R14 on 6" rims. This is as wide as I would go on this rim. The problem with running wide tires on narrow rims is that it tends to balloon the tire. You put more pressure on the center of the tread & the ends tend to lift up off the pavement wearing out the center of the tire. You can reduce air pressure to compensate some, but lower pressures will creat more heat in the tire. Heat is what destroys tires in blow outs.
